Welcome to the Brooks Public Library
Brooks Public Library is now accepting applications for their
2024 Library Intern Position. Applicants are expected to have completed their
MLIS degree within the 2023 calendar year and be available to begin in early January
2024. The successful applicant may be considered for a second year extension.
Brooks Public Library, within the Southeastern Alberta
community of Brooks, is unique; large and busy enough to maintain all its
standard services in-house, but small enough that employees workloads generally
include cross-department responsibilities. The Library Intern Position has been
structured to allow a new graduate to experience all aspects of public library
service, from the circulation desk and programming to collection development
and supervisory responsibilities. This position also provides the opportunity
to tailor work experience to fit with future employment goals. Additionally, our
small city is home to a vastly multicultural population, offering the
successful applicant a chance to develop skills generally associated with
larger centres.
Resumes with a cover letter will be accepted by email to brolib@shortgrass.ca until the position is filled.
